BRIEF HIGHLIGHTS ON THE SHORT COURSE IN FOOD PROCESSING

The short course on food processing and value addition at RUCID ORGANIC AGRICULTURE TRAINING COLLEGE is in progress. Participants are from as far as Jinja, Kanungu, and others are promising to come from Mbarara. Basics of processing have been introduced,and within the two weeks, participants have been able to innovate products for example processes and packed shombe ( from cassava leaves), high quality starch from cassava, high quality cassava flour, and a lot more.

A few vacancies are still available for this session, apply as soon as possible.

One lady was inspired by the work which the participants have done, despite of being outside the age bracket,she pleaded for the chance to be part of the training; as it has been her demand she has been accepted so as not to suppress her interest.

One mother had to hire a baby seater so that she could benefit from the training,she has left the home for the 4 months at the expense of the training. I trust she will be different after the training.

So far, two participants have opted to commute from home every day, for the training,this is a sign that there has been a demand which the training is responding to.
